Summary: This report offers detailed information on the administrative entities of the government of the Antioquia State at the end of the 1869 legislative term. Written by the President (Governor) of Antioquia, Pedro Berrío, the report acknowledged the internal violent conflict in the Estados Unidos de Colombia and provides Berrío’s summation of the national political situation. Berrío pointed to the political and civil unrest to explain some of the fiscal difficulties over the period in question.
Historical Notes: Antioquia is located in northwest Colombia on the Caribbean coast and the Gulf of Urabá. It has been an important commercial center since the 16th century.
