Summary: Jorge Bravo criticized the budget proposed by the Colombian President Rafael Uribe Uribe concerning the Antioquia Railroad. According to the author, the President’s allocation of funds was insufficient to cover the maintenance and expansion of the railroad. The document includes a detailed account of expenses and contributions (provincial and national) related to this transportation system.
Historical Notes: The Antioquia Railroad linked Medellín with Puerto Berrío along the Magdalena River. The construction of the 193km railroad began in 1875 and was completed in 1929. The contract for the second section of the railroad from Medellín to the Cauca River below Amagá was completed in 1930. The completed Antioquia Railroad joined the Pacific and Caldas railroads via the Western Trunk Railroad. Davis, Robert 1993 Antioquia Railroad. In Historical Dictionary of Colombia. Pp. 64.
