Summary: Antonio Valencia here presents a report on the cemeteries in each city of the Department of Cauca. He also provides background on the religious and public health reasons for the building and maintenance of cemeteries. He advocates returning the control of cemeteries to the Church.
Historical Notes: Today’s Department of Cauca was created by the 1886 constitution. It is located in the southwest of Colombia and its capital is Popayán.
