Summary: Francisco J. Zaldúa, here presents the law that dictates the organization and execution of a Nueva Granada census every eight years. It outlines the procedure at the national and provincial levels.
Historical Notes: The first Nueva Granada census was done in 1835. The law mandated that the procedure had to be repeated every eight years, a regulation that changed to every ten years in the 20th century. The 1835 Nueva Granada census covered twenty provinces and one hundred and ten cantons (Venezuela and Ecuador were already independent nations).
