Summary: A written account of the Battle of El Palo, especially composed to introduce the uniniciated on the subject. It was designed to teach the history of the battle to students of Popayán
Historical Notes: The Battle of El Palo, confronted the Royalist army against the Independentist forces of the then viceroyalty of New Granada, on 5 July, 1815, near the El Palo River, close to the city of Popayán. In the end, the liberating forces won and could pacify the region for almost a year. This battle is one of the crucial moments in the Colombian wars for Independence.
