Early printing emphasized most of its publications on religious themes and printed such items as novenas, doctrinas, and devotionals. However, early printing also published some secular items relating to education and agriculture. The "Verdadero Metodo" was printed by one of the earliest printing presses in Colombia, Imprenta Patriótica de Santa Fe de Bogota. The Imprenta Patriotica was founded by Antonion Narino who became a prominent figure in the movement for independence in Colombia.
