Summary: The board of directors of the Bogotá stock exchange set out the statutes for its formation and administration. The stock exchange was managed by an association that received the approval of President Rafael Núñez.
Historical Notes: The first Colombian attempt to create a stock exchange occurred in Medellín in 1901 in response to a perceived need to promote and regulate the stock market. This reflects the growth of coffee exports and the improving local economy. The Medellín stock exchange would only begin formal operations in 1929, followed by Bogotá in 1934.
