Summary: Joaquín Sarmiento, the dean of the Escuela de Medicina, a private medical school, here publishes the regulations for the creation of a medical school in the state of Cundinamarca. The regulations outline the responsibilities of each employee, professors and students. They also include a list of academic subjects and graduation requirements.
Historical Notes: In 1802 the first program to educate physicians was created in the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Various universities began medical schools and, in 1867, the Facultad de Medicina y Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia was created. The Sociedad de Medicina y Ciencias Naturales was formed in 1873 and in 1891 it became the Academia Nacional de Medicina de Colombia.
