Summary: A group of Catholic Liberals denounce Mosquera and his administration as enemies of the church, and call the Mosquera regime corrupt and of poor moral quality. State that despite prior problems, past liberal regimes, such as that of José Mariá Obando were generous and morally righteous.
Historical Notes: At the time of writing, President Tomás C. Mosquera ran an anticlerical campaign as part of his efforts to distance New Granada from its colonial past by severing the connections between church and state. Mosquera who led rebel forces during Liberal Civl War (1860-1862) came to power by overthrowing the previous Conservative government, which had supported the Catholic Church as a means of maintaining moral order in New Granadian society. As this broadside demonstrates, some Liberals disapproved of Mosquera's attacks against the Catholic Church.
