Summary: T.C. Mosquera warns of the potential dangers of reintroducing the Jesuits to Colombia. He mentions damage already done by the Regeneration Movement in restoring church power. He encourages the "real liberals" who supported the 1863 constitution to take a stand.
Historical Notes: The Jesuits were expelled and reintroduced several times in nineteenth-century Colombia. During his presidency from 1861-1863, Mosquera expelled the order as part of his anti-clerical campaign. At the time of writing, Aquiello Parra, a Radical Liberal held the presidency.
