Summary: The official magazine of the Colegio Público de Varones de Cartago, created in 1916. Its function was to publicize the school's activities and to make available to the wider community texts on important subjects such as sciences, history, and literature. This issue includes a list of the books that were recently donated to the library, an essay on education, a piece on Simón Bolívar, and a poem.
Historical Notes: Colombian governments, the same as many other states across the globe, saw in education one of the most effective solutions for the social problems of the country. Since very early, the Colombian state understood that providing free basic education for everyone was one of its key functions. Moreover, throughout the 19th century Catholicism played an important part in the education of the country, helping to forge a national identity.
