Summary: This novena, a prayer booklet meant to provide recitations and devotionals over a nine day period, has an engaging image on its cover. It has thin, wallpaper like paper folded and adhered to its cover. The image is of intricate floral patterns and is colorful. There are also faded pencil marks and writing on the front. On the interior title page of the novena, somebody has filled in the faded parts of title by hand.
Historical Notes: This early printed booklet is a religious novena. Novenas typically included various prayer recitations and devotions. This novena was published by Diego Espinosa de los Monteros who became a significant figure in print in Colombia and eventually worked with Antonio Narino with Imprenta Patriotica. On the cover of the novena are intricate and colorful floral designs. This novena reflects some of the artistic developments in early printing in Colombia as printing presses became more advanced.
